HOSPERSA BLASTS GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSAL TO REVIEW PUBLIC SERVICE WAGE AGREEMENT

Hospersa, which represents more than 50 000 public servants [predominately health workers] has rejected Government’s request to review clause 3.3 of the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) Resolution 1 of 2018 which talks to public servants wage increases for 2020/21.  Government has made this request citing that it cannot afford public servants’ salary adjustments to be effected on 1 April 2020.  Hospersa has criticised government’s failure to plan and has vowed to take the state to task should it fail to implement the already meagre increases that were signed for in 2018 by other unions in the PSCBC.

HOSPERSA SHOCKED BY DEADLY BACTERIA OUTBREAK AT TEMBISA HOSPITAL

Hospersa is shocked to learn that ten (10) babies died at Tembisa Hospital during the festive season following an outbreak of a highly drug-resistant bacteria, Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacterales (CRE).  The Gauteng Department of Health (DoH) has highlighted overcrowding and poor hygiene measures in neonatal wards as the main causes of this outbreak.  The provincial department has put measures in place to address these concerns, however Hospersa is alarmed that these measures were taken without union’s involvement.

HOSPERSA TO MARCH TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK OVER UNFAIR LABOUR PRACTICES

Hospersa is gearing up for a march on 20 September 2019, at the Kruger National Park to address the various employment issues at the South African National Parks (SANParks).  The list of grievances includes the collapsed wage negotiations as well as a dispute involving the payment of Sunday hours and Public holidays.

HOSPERSA THREATENS NATIONWIDE STRIKE AT SANPARKS OVER WAGE NEGOTIATIONS

Hospersa has threatened a national shutdown at South African National Parks (SANParks) after wage negotiations collapsed with the tourism giant.  Two other unions are also in support of the shutdown as all three recognised unions at SANParks look to put pressure on the employer to offer their members a better wage increase.

Hospersa is calling upon all South Africans to unite in the spirit of active citizenship to end the wave of violent crimes that have rocked the country since last week.  Aside from the xenophobic attacks on foreign migrants and the looting of shops, the country has also been rocked by several devastating news of Gender Based Violence where the murders of two women made headlines.
