HOSPERSA REJECTS PUBLIC SERVICE WAGE OFFER

Hospersa has rejected Government’s final wage increase offer for public service employees. The Union consulted its provincial structures after Government’s final offer was tabled at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC) on 18 May 2018. The Union calls on Government to put to the table a fair offer that will speak to challenges faced by public service employees in a tough economy with the recent Value Added Tax (VAT) increase.

Hospersa has expressed concerns about the decision of the North West (NW) Premier, Supra Mahumapelo, to reverse his decision to resign. The Union has again written to the President seeking political intervention from the governing party to solve the “Supra conundrum” which has led to ongoing violent protests and a collapsed health care service in the NW Province.

Hospersa has welcomed the resignation of North West (NW) Premier, Supra Mahumapelo following violent protests that have brought many essential services in the province to a halt. The Union has called on the political heads to appoint a credible replacement that will prioritise the resuscitation of the health care service in NW province which has all but collapsed.

HOSPERSA SLAMS KZN HEALTH FOR POOR SERVICE DELIVER

Hospersa has criticised the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Department of Health (DoH) for dismal health standards in the province’s public health facilities. The criticism comes after the KZN Member of Executive Council (MEC) for Health visited the Church of Scotland Hospital in Tugela Ferry and found patients sleeping on benches and on the floor.

HOSPERSA WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING TOMORROW’S PLANNED STRIKE

Hospersa will not be joining the nation-wide strike set to hit the country tomorrow. The strike is organised by the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) which Hospersa is not affiliated to. The Union has urged its members to go to work and should not heed to calls for a country-wide shut down of public services.
