Labour law amendments will throttle job creation

Brendan Peacock writes that imminent labour law amendments represent the most significant tightening of labour laws since the Labour Relations Act of 1995.  The most contentious amendment relates to “temporary employment services” — essentially labour brokers such as Adcorp.  The amendments seek equal pay and benefits for any temporary worker hired for more than six months.  If the employer fails to offer an indefinite contract if there is a reasonable expectation of one, this will be construed as a dismissal.
