4 June 2010. The management of Netcare met with the trade union Hospersa last night in an urgent attempt to solve the wage strike ongoing at 11 hospitals in 5 provinces.
After lengthy discussions, Netcare tabled options to be explored from their side.
Netcare indicated that they needed more time to do the necessary costing on the proposed offer and that they will revert to the union by Tuesday, 8 June.
“Hospersa will seek an urgent mandate from its members on the offer. The union reserves the right to resume with the industrial action after having studied the proposals on Tuesday” says Noel Desfontaines, Hospersa’s General Secretary.
The affected hospitals are: Gauteng Province, N17 Hospital, KwaZulu/Natal: St. Augustine’s, Parklands, Umhlanga and Alberlito hospitals Eastern Cape: Kyler and Greenacres Free State: Pelenomi and Kroonstad North West: Ferncrest Hospital.
