Nationwide strikes at Netcare Hospitals (Media Releases)

1 June 2010. The trade union Hospersa has announced that its members will, from tomorrow onwards, embark on full blown strike actions at Netcare Hospitals in five provinces. The affected hospitals are: Gauteng Province, N17 Hospital KwaZulu/Natal: St. Augustine’s, Parklands, Umhlanga and Alberlito hospitals. Eastern Cape: Kyler and Greenacres hospitals Free State: Pelenomi and Kroonstad hospitals North West: Ferncrest Hospital

Hospersa, the majority trade union representing nursing and administrative staff within the Netcare group, declared that last week’s picketing at these hospitals has drawn no response from Netcare’s management. Hospersa’s General Secretary, Noel Desfontaines, says that actions will now be embarked on to show that its members are serious.
